What will be covered?
Looking at the artist Alison Katz for inspiration, currently showing at the Hayward in the Mixing It Up: Painting Today, you will think of a theme; Christmas or anything at all, that would be fun to add layers or small amounts of rice onto as a means of experimenting with texture.
Chantelle will demonstrate throughout the class how we can work with the various amounts of applications with paint and colour.

To follow at home you will need:
- Rice
- Water container and water
- Kitchen roll or blotting paper
- Pencil
- Clear work space
- Working internet connection
Tutor
Chantelle Stephenson received a BA (Hons) in Fine Art from The Cambridge School of Art. Exhibitions include Gaeltacht and Lost Landscapes at Letchworth Arts Centre in Letchworth (2009 and 2010), Endless Provocation at The Michael Brown Gallery in Hitchin, Hertfordshire (2011), Open Ended, at Open Ealing in Ealing, London (2012), and Matter at The Harbour Exchange in Docklands, London (2012). She was also an artist-in-resident at the Departure Foundation at the Thames Tower in Hammersmith, London from 2011–2014.
