Site Technician 
Part-time, 12.5 hours (3 weekday evenings per week)

£8.16 per hour
Reports to: Deputy Director


Summary
Milton Keynes Arts Centre (MKAC) is seeking a highly motivated and efficient Site Technician. Reporting to the Deputy Director, this role is fundamental to the smooth running of the Arts Centre’s programme of course, exhibitions and events.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance of specialist resources, day to day caretaking and point of contact for all users of the site. You will be highly organised, have excellent problem solving skills and a calm, confident and professional approach.

Milton Keynes Arts Centre is a multidisciplinary arts centre set in the historic grounds of Great Linford Manor Park. We present a programme of exhibitions, live events and educational activities inspired by craft, design and the visual arts. We provide artists with access to specialist resources and the space to explore new ideas, developed in tandem with our communities.

Milton Keynes Arts Centre is part of Arts Council England's National Portfolio.


Main Duties
  • To be first point of contact for all visitors to Milton Keynes Arts Centre; answering queries and resolving problems.
  • Acting as site supervisor for evening activities and events, including occasional weekends.
  • Responsibility for maintenance of the artists’ studios, workshops, gallery, offices and cleanliness across the site.
  • Providing specialist support for programmed events and activities including maintenance of kilns and silversmithing resources.
  • Responsibility for general site inspections, upkeep, maintenance, repairs and fault reporting, covering both internal and external areas.
  • Completing weekly health and safety checks such as testing fire alarms and emergency lighting.
  • Preparing rooms and specialist facilities for courses, workshops and events
  • Keeping track of and ordering café, course and office supplies.
  • Key holder and emergency out-of-hours contact.
  • Providing hand-over and update reports to the staff team and line manager .
  • Any other reasonable management request.


Person Specification 
  • Highly organised with methodical approach.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and occasional weekends as required.
  • Physically able to lift and move items for setting up workshops, exhibitions and events.
  • Demonstrate ability to accurately record and report problems without delay.
  • Proven ability to work with limited supervision.
  • Demonstrate ability to follow instructions.
  • Demonstrate customer focused approach to work.
  • Own vehicle and full driving license. 
  • A readiness and flexibility to take on the challenges of the role and a willingness to ‘pitch in’.
  • A calm, confident and professional approach. 
  • A proactive self-starter, happy to work alone and as part of a team to see things through.
  • A clear understanding and commitment to the aims and success of MKAC.


Desirable
  • Full driving licence
  • First aid trained.
  • DBS checked.
