SIGMA SIGMA SIGMA is the culmination of a three-month artist residency and programme of free events, family workshops and activities led by artist Emma Cousin for Milton Keynes Arts Centre as the fourth instalment of Common Ground 2018–19.

The eighteenth letter of the Greek alphabet (Σ, σ), transliterated as ‘s’. It also means ‘the sum of’. Tri Sigma is also an American sorority in the USA whose motto is ‘ever forward’ and attempts to appeal and represent the ‘normal, girl next door.’


A 20th century movement of artists and writers who used unexpected combinations of images and words in order to represent unconscious thoughts and dreams.
