Simple Acts
with Ria Hartley
21 September 2016, 6.30–8.30pm
Working in response to Ibiye Camp’s exhibition Set Menu, Ria Hartley invited guests to a macrobiotic meal to contemplate how small acts of generosity invigorate processes of self-enquiry and self-expression. The informal but intimate evening punctuated a series of actions to encourage an exchange that draws attention to care and kindness one may give to oneself, and towards others, when making artworks.
Simple Acts curated by Groundwork artists Ashleigh Griffith and Cara Davies, with host Artists Barby Asante, Ria Hartley, Hayley Newman and Sibylle Peters.
Simple Acts was a discursive platform curating everyday activities of simple actions to encourage sharing, networking and debate amongst the creatively curious. Developed by arts collective Tracing The Pathway for their Milton Keynes based performance and research project Groundwork, in partnership with Milton Keynes Arts Centre.
