Summary
Established in 1974, Milton Keynes Arts Centre (MKAC) is a multidisciplinary arts centre set in the historic grounds of Great Linford Manor Park and a National Portfolio Organisation of Arts Council England. We specialise in co-developing projects with artists and communities in Milton Keynes that respond to the issues affecting people’s lives and help to empower often marginalised communities in the city. Alongside these projects, we offer specialist art production facilities – including in ceramics, woodworking and silversmithing – in which we provide opportunities for people to engage in participatory activities, acquire new skills through working with artists, and support health and well-being. We also hire our spaces out for meetings, weddings and other celebrations on a regular basis.

We are seeking Casual Security & Event Assistants to support hires, courses and events at MKAC, ensuring all aspects of security for MKAC buildings, visitors and staff; and to act as the reception point for the organisation.

The ideal candidate will have experience of security work, with good interpersonal skills, have a confident, authoritative style and basic level of literacy, numeracy and IT skills. You will be able to work with minimal supervision with a strong customer focus and be able to work evenings and weekends.

  • To greet visitors / contractors / other members of staff and providing access to MKAC buildings as appropriate
  • To undertake routine checks and patrols
  • To assist in all aspects of events’ delivery, including preparing venues before events and clearing them at the events’ conclusion
  • To be responsible for opening up as well as securing and alarming MKAC buildings after events and to report any security breaches to a senior member of staff
  • To be responsible for visitors’ welfare; including administering first aid on occasion, documenting any accidents and escalating as required; and at all times following MKAC’s H&S, Safeguarding and Lone Working policies and procedures
