Who is this class suitable for?
Ages 16+
Adults with some previous experience of working with clay
What will be covered in the class?
This two day course will look at hand building techniques, working with plaster moulds, slab building and carving to realise customers own projects. Touching on application and choice of colour to the final form.
Day 1:
- Working with clay, rolling out clay/ use of moulds
- Realising design ideas/ inspiration
- Building demonstrations
- Maquettes
Day 2:
- Construction of main piece
- Carving/ finishing
- Application of coloured slip (optional)
What will students leave the class with?
You will leave with a maquette and final piece that can be coloured with clay slip and will be available to collect after bisque firing.
Please note: If you would like your creation glaze fired (to add colour and make food safe).
You will be able to choose a single colour glaze finish, at an additional cost, which will be applied after bisque firing by our technician. You can find our glazing price list here.
What will I need to bring?
Materials and tools are included.

Ceramics Studio (Ground floor with raised tables, narrow doorways).

Tutor
Julie Lemming is an artist and sculptor working mostly in clay making ceramic sculptures and vessels for indoor and outdoor spaces. Her work is about form, space and movement looking at, lines, curves and shapes within a structure and distil them to their simplest form, to reveal a glimpse of the original.
Julie studied at the University of Hertfordshire completing a Degree in Fine Art in 2015 before focusing her work on ceramics. Presently working from a studio in Baldock, Hertfordshire she exhibits her work within galleries and events across the south of England
