Who is this class suitable for?
Ideal for learners who want to develop artistic skills and challenge themselves to use new materials or develop further techniques.
What will be covered in the class?
This course will focus on blocks of learning, starting with creating a simple relief sculpture and making a one piece mould from which, your tutor will guide you through simple casting techniques. You will study wire sculptors and create two small wire sculptures. You will be sculpting directly from a life model in the last session and creating 3D life ‘sketches’ . This course will provide its students with a taster of some different kinds of sculpture and a simple cast.
What to bring?
Sculpting materials will be included. You should bring a sketchbook or notebook. Your tutor will advise on what materials you should purchase as the course progresses to develop your toolbox.
Sara Myers has had a traditional academic training. She has a studio in Milton Keynes, where she continues her own artistic practice and several of her public sculptural commissions are local, in Wolverton, Lodge lake and Stony Stratford. Sara has taught Art and Design for undergraduate students, and currently runs workshops in life drawing, portraiture and modelling for adults. She is very experienced figurative sculptor and has sculpted over 20 figures for Madame Tussauds.
