Who is this class suitable for?
Suitable for any level of experience.
What will be covered in the class?
Over this five week course, students will develop a themed collection of pottery pieces, guided by ceramicist Andrew Macdermott. Whether you are a beginner or more experienced in ceramics, Andrew will guide you through your practice, helping develop your process. Students will use a range of coloured decorating slips to add detail, texture and a fun finish to your creations.
In an effort to make our site more environmentally friendly, we will be restricting kiln firings to a maximum of 6kg (raw clay) of work per student per term.
What will I need to bring?
You may wish to bring a sketchbook to draw designs and make notes. Aprons or coveralls should be worn at all times, along with hair-ties and closed-toe shoes.
Ceramics Studio (Ground floor with raised tables, narrow doorways).
Andrew Macdermott is a product of evening pottery classes at Milton Keynes Arts Centre. ‘I fell in love with the tactile clay immediately and now a few years on I teach the class I learnt in.’ Andy makes and sells Icelandic-inspired ceramic pieces at craft fairs and galleries across the country.
