Who is this class suitable for?
All skill levels. Must be able to sit at a pottery wheel.
What will be covered in the class?
Every wanted to try your hand a wheel throwing a pot? – Well now is your chance! Join our ceramics technician Sarah Dewhurst for this beginners guide to pottery wheel throwing where you will learn the basics of working the potters wheel and experiment by throwing some forms of your own.
In session one you will learn how to use the wheel to create your forms, before returning to refine and turn your creations in session two.
What will students leave the class with?
You will leave with a basic understanding of how to throw on the pottery wheel. We estimate you will make 3-4 forms.
Items will be bisque fired and ready for collection at a later date.
Please note: If you would like your creation glaze fired (to add colour and make food safe).
You will be able to choose a single colour glaze finish, at an additional cost, which will be applied after bisque firing by Sarah. You can find our glazing price list here.
What will I need to bring?
Aprons or coveralls should be worn at all times, along with hair-ties and closed-toe shoes.
Ceramics Studio (ground floor with raised tables, narrow doorways).
