Who is this class suitable for?
This course is suitable for all levels of skill. All are welcome tocome andhone their existing skills or to learn about portraiture entirely anew.

What will be covered in the class?
During this 10-week course, students will learn a variety of techniques in acrylic paint including Alla-Prima (wet-on-wet painting) and Impasto painting, as well as the most effective ways of producing the likeness of a subject. With the guidance of tutor Kemi Onabule, students will practice these techniques to create and complete a portrait painting. This course will provide its students with a strong and technically informed foundation of portrait painting.

What to bring?
Students will need to bring their own course specific materials, including: a palette (or plate), acrylic or oil brushes in a variety of sizes and a selection of acrylic paints in the primary colours, burnt umber and white. Students can also bring basic oil painting set which will include a wider variety of premixed colours if desired.

Surfaces will be provided until specified otherwise.

Kemi Onabule holds a Fine Art degree in Painting from UAL: Wimbledon College of Art. Her work has been exhibited extensively in London. In 2017, she was shortlisted for two graduate prizes: The Hix Award and The Ingram Prize.

Kemi uses her formal knowledge of portraiture and figure in her artistic practice to create dream-like scenes of people in nature and often centres on the female form.
