What will be covered in the class?
Join illustrator Rosie May for a fun observational drawing workshop turning what you see in the surroundings of Milton Keynes Arts Centre into lively characters!
From initial sketches you will think about how to characterise what you’ve drawn using prompts provided by the artist.
If that tree or building had a face what would it be like?
What clothes would it wear?
How would all of the things in the scene interact?
Would the birds talk to the cars, the trees talk to the insects?
Watch as your scene starts to come to life!
You may wish to bring a sketchbook to draw designs and make notes. Aprons or coveralls should be worn at all times, along with hair-ties and closed-toe shoes.
Location
Great Linford Manor Park Courtyard. This activity is outdoors and weather permitting.
Tutor
Rosie May is a Freelance Illustrator currently based in Northampton. Her personal practice largely focuses on the commonplace aspects of our everyday experience, a theme which has continued to resonate with her since her final year at Winchester School of Art. Channeling childlike wonder into a naive visual style, Rosie uses illustration as a vehicle to challenge us to relish life equally in its most ordinary moments as we do at its most dynamic.
Photographs and/or video will be taken during this workshop
