What will be covered in the class?
Over the five weeks of the course you will be guided through exercises to:

The structure of the course will provide you with the opportunity to observe the life model in a variety of short and longer poses, focusing on a different drawing principle each week, allowing time to apply yourself, with guidance and individual tuition on hand when required.
Week 1: Line and Edge - using a range of drawing tools including pencil, graphite, charcoal and erasers to explore the shape and quality of line.
Week 2: Shape and Space - looking for negative space in the pose and applying it to shape what you are drawing, using chalks, coloured pastels, and coloured paper.
Week 3: Lights and Darks - using a charcoal ground and putty rubbers, to explore shading and highlights and to create improved three dimensional form in your drawings.
Week 4: Relationships - use guides and artist techniques to create more accurate perspective and proportion in your drawings, using colour and texture.
Week 5: Bringing it together - the opportunity to choose your preference of materials, to create an artwork applying all the skills and techniques covered on the course.
