Who is this class suitable for?
Ages 16+
No previous experience is needed to take part in this course, intermediate learners who would like a refresher in jewellery making are welcome to attend.
What will be covered in the class?
Following your own design, tutor Clare Layton will guide you through the skills needed to complete your project.
With demonstrations in a variety of silversmithing disciplines you will practice making techniques to create your very own bespoke jewellery pieces in copper and silver.
Students will be supported by Clare and will progress at a pace that suits them.
What will I need to bring? Please bring a notebook to make notes and sketches and an apron to protect clothing. Close-toed shoes must be worn and hair must be tied back. Tools are included and Clare will provide advice on what tools are essential for any learners who wish to purchase their own kit.
This course includes up to £20 worth of copper material, which is typically adequate for those with no experience in jewellery making or those wanting to focus on making small pieces. For students wanting to make larger pieces or work with silver, further materials will be available for purchase directly from the tutor if desired. In this case, your £20 stipend can be put towards your materials of choice.
