What will be covered in the class?
During this one day class students will work from a life model to create a small figure using air drying clay. Students will learn how to use an armature (frame for their model) and use air drying clay to sculpt anatomy, expression and gesture. This course will provide its students with an introduction to figurative sculpture and their materials.
You will take your figurative sculpture home at the end of the day.
What’s included?
Life models will attend the class and all materials will be provided. Students should bring something to cover their clothes and something to record technical notes in. Learners can also bring any existing tools they want to practice with including wooden sculpting tools and side cutters.
Tutor
Sara Myers has had a traditional academic training. She has a studio in Milton Keynes, where she continues her own artistic practice and several of her public sculptural commissions are local, in Wolverton, Lodge lake and Stony Stratford. Sara has taught Art and Design for undergraduate students, and currently runs workshops in life drawing, portraiture and modelling for adults. She is very experienced figurative sculptor and has sculpted over 20 figures for Madame Tussauds.
