Suitable for complete beginners.
What will be covered in the class?
Each of these sessions will look at a different ceramic techniques including throwing on the wheel, hand build using slabs and coils. You will be guided through generating surface designs using slips and develop a beginner’s understanding of the science of clay. Your work will be fired in our kiln and glazed to take away once the course has finished.
What’s included?
Tools, clay and firing of completed pieces is included.
You may wish to bring a sketchbook to draw designs and make notes. Aprons or coveralls should be worn at all times, along with hair-ties and closed-toe shoes.

Andrew Macdermott is a product of evening pottery classes at Milton Keynes Arts Centre. ‘I fell in love with the tactile clay immediately and now a few years on I teach the class I learnt in.’ Andy makes and sells Icelandic-inspired ceramic pieces at craft fairs and galleries across the country.
