Who is this class suitable for?
Ages 16+
All skill levels welcome.

What will be covered in the class?
Join artist tutor Alondene Phillips for this 5 week course of experimental printmaking using nature, found objects and a range of printmaking techniques.

On the course there will be flexibility to work on your own projects, learn new techniques and develop your ideas with support and guidance from the tutor.  These workshops will offer opportunities for students to work with a mini press and also learn how to create prints without a press.

Across the five weeks there will be opportunities to try a range of relief printing techniques such as intaglio, gelli plate printing, block printing, alongside resist techniques, discharge printing, chine chine-colle, collagraph and silk screen printing.

Students will experiment and explore how some of these different techniques can be combined, manipulated and overlaid to build interesting and imaginative prints.

The course will cater for those wishing to print on fabric or paper mediums.

What will I need to bring?
Tools and equipment provided.

Students should bring:
  • 2 sketchbooks: 1 for ideas, photos, patterns or images (no bigger than A4) and 1 to use in the development of your work.
  • Cotton and paper will be provided but you may wish to bring in your own fabric or range of papers to print on.
  • You may also wish to bring your own pieces of nature, such as leaves, features or other items with texture.

Location
Art Studio. The art studio is situated at the top of a flight of stairs. Tools are all light and accessible. Work benches are not currently height adjustable.

Her practice focusses on using  print making and surface design techniques to explore different possibilities and push boundaries. As a tutor Alondene aims to open up possibilities for her students and enable them to develop new skills and techniques that will inform and enhance their practice.
