Who is this class suitable for?
Ages 16+
This workshop is suitable for those who have some experience of Ecoprinting and want to expand their knowledge and techniques to create more complex prints including the use of natural dyes.

What will be covered in the class?
Discover the magical combinations of Ecoprint with Natural Dyes.

In this workshop, we will explore how Ecoprint can be complimented and enhanced by the use of natural dyes and tannins. It is suitable for improvers who are keen to achieve clear defined Ecoprints combined with a variety of natural dyes, that could be used in many varied textile and paper based projects. In addition to experimenting with a variety of fabrics papers natural dyes and Ecoprint techniques, the workshop will include making a fabulous Japanese Stab Book with Ecoprinted and naturally dyed papers.

What will students leave the class with?
Students will complete a range of large sample pieces that could used in a variety of different projects. In addition, students will complete a Japanese Stab Book.
What will I need to bring?
All the fabrics and papers you need will be provided. Please also bring with you:

  • And old towel
  • A ball of string
  • A small bucket
  • A pair of scissors
  • A selection of leaves – these are good for ecoprinting, oak, chestnut, rose, bramble, hardy geranium, eucalyptus, cotinus, sage, fennel, acers (we will collect spares do not worry if you are unsure)

Please wear old clothes, appropriate for the weather, and bring a packed lunch with you.

Location
Art Studio: The art studio is situated at the top of a flight of stairs. Tools are all light and accessible. Work benches are not currently height adjustable. Weather permitting, we will also spend some times outside in the Open Garden and surrounding parkland.

Tutors
Fiona blading is a textiles, ecoprint and natural dyes artist, experienced in teaching others the magic of ecoprinting. Fiona was attracted by the environmentally friendly and sustainability ethos of the craft.

Booking Terms and Conditions
Completing your booking with Milton Keynes Arts Centre signifies your agreement to the below terms of Refunds and Cancellation. All profits support our annual programme of exhibitions, events and charitable outreach projects.

Bookings are non-refundable and only transferable at the discretion of Milton Keynes Arts Centre. Any workshops that you are unable to attend cannot be refunded and cannot be reallocated.

Courses may be rescheduled/cancelled by Milton Keynes Arts Centre if the minimum number of required students is not met. Notification of a possible reschedule/cancellation will be sent to students three-working days before the first workshop of the term, in this instance only will refunds be issued in full if a course is rescheduled/cancelled.
Photographs and/or video will be taken during this course
As a registered charity, it can sometimes be necessary to share photos and videos of our community outreach in printed matter, social media, press releases and funding applications. By taking part in this event you grant Milton Keynes Arts Centre full rights to use the images resulting from the photography/video filming to help achieve our charitable aims.
