Ages 16+
Suitable for complete beginners or anyone just needing a creative ‘jumpstart’ welcome.

What will be covered in the class?
Join ceramics technician and tutor Sarah Dewhurst for this one day course to learn the basic methods and techniques of creating and casting with clay slip to create several pieces in our plaster moulds.

Slip casting is a method of turning clay into a liquid and casting it into plaster moulds to create work in a shorter amount of time. These are able to be made identical to one another, making it an ideal method when it comes to making dinnerware.

This course is ideal for anyone who wants to extend their knowledge of ceramics and ceramic techniques, as well as complete beginners.

What’s included?
All materials are included.

Location
Ceramics Studio (Ground floor with raised tables, narrow doorways).

Tutor
Sarah is a Mix Media Crafter specialising in ceramic and textile methods, particularly in slip casting and embroidery, and includes experimenting with illustrative technique and storytelling in her work. Sarah earned her degree in Contemporary Crafts at Falmouth University in 2016 and is also Ceramic Technician for Milton Keynes Art Centre.
