Who is this class suitable for?
Suitable for complete beginners or anyone just needing a creative ‘jumpstart’ welcome.
What will be covered in the class?
This 5 week course is perfect for anyone who wants to build their creative confidence and learn new skills.
Each week we will explore different techniques together in a fun and playful way. You will experiment with mark making in a variety of media, working from both observation and imagination. We will also cover basic colour theory and look at ways to use colour in a confident and effective way.
You will work towards creating a finished piece of original art as well as a sketchbook of ideas, ready to take you on your new creative journey.
What will I need to bring?
- A sketchbook – A4 or larger with good quality paper (around 130gsm)
- Selection of black fine liners
- Drawing pencils (HB, 2B, 6B are a good start
- A set of basic brushes suitable for watercolours or acrylics (not needed first week)
- A set of acrylic paints including black, white, cadmium red, cadmium yellow and ultramarine blue (not needed first week)
- A small paint paletter
Art Room, only accessible using stairs.
Sarah gained her Master’s degree in Contemporary Crafts from Falmouth University in 2009. Alongside creating her own work, she is an experienced tutor, leading art and textile workshops for both children and adults for nearly 10 years. Sarah has also worked for arts and health charities promoting the benefits of creativity for well-being, and travelled in South and Central America learning about their textiles and culture. She is passionate about experimenting with new creative skills and sharing them with others in a relaxed and playful way..
