Suitable for all skill levels.
What will be covered in the class?
Join artist tutor Ciara Callaghan in this one day introductory course to embroidery. Learn techniques including how to transfer an image onto your fabric ready to embroider, how to prepare your fabric in a hoop, basic foundation embroidery stitches, and how to use these stitches to build a textured and interesting piece of fibre art.
The workshop will have an Autumnal theme with students creating their own version of a botanical seasonal wreath.
In the six hours we would look at how to transfer an image onto fabric, how to prepare a hoop, learn some basic embroidery stitches and take home a project which they participants have started and have learnt the skills to complete in their own time.
All materials included. Each participant will take home a hoop, embroidery threads and needles to continue their work at home.
Art Room, only accessible using stairs.
Ciara Callaghan is a fibre artist based in Milton Keynes. She uses needlework and natural dyeing to explore themes around female empowerment, dream imagery and fluxes of reality.
