Over six weeks, pupils of Brooklands Farm Primary School have been meeting and working with artists of African heritage: learning about African culture through contemporary practice. This event, curated by the young people, will bring together artist-led activities, displays, food and music celebrating African heritage and the coming together of all communities in Milton Keynes. Around it, a Festive Fair will take place in the Arts Centre’s courtyard, with a range of craft and food stalls.

A Celebration of African Art & Culture has been organised by the African Diaspora Foundation in association with Milton Keynes Arts Centre and has been coordinated by the artist, Shepherd Manyika. It is part of a project designed to improve understanding of African heritage in schools, which is supported by The Radcliffe Trust.
Teacher’s Preview
A teachers’ preview will take place earlier in the day, from 3–5pm. This will be an opportunity to meet the artists involved in the project, to learn about the activities they have developed for schools, and to become part of the project. African refreshments will be available.

If you are a teacher and would like to join, please book below.
